Chicken Pickle (Achar) Curry Recipe

Chicken pickle (achar) is an authentic Indian recipe. Achar means Pickle and Chicken is meat. So basically, chicken is cooked in pickle spices. The addition of these particular spices gives this curry a basic taste and it is mouthwatering and aromatic.

It’s a wonderful, slightly spicy, and soothing curry like Meatballs curry.

Ingredients

Garlic β†’ 8 to 10 Pieces

Ginger β†’ 2 Inch piece

Tomatoes β†’ 400 gm

Yogurt β†’ 250 gm

Fennel Seeds β†’ 1 Tbsp

Cooking Oil β†’ 1/3 Cup

Nigella Seeds β†’ 1 Tbsp

Mustard Seeds β†’ 1 Tsp

Fenugreek seeds β†’ 1 Tsp

Salt β†’ 1 Tsp

Red Chili Powder β†’ 1 Tbsp

Turmeric powder β†’ 1 Tbsp

Coriander Powder

Chicken β†’ Β½ Kg

Water β†’ 2 Cups

Lemon β†’ 2 Large

Green Chili β†’ 6

Recipe

Put garlic, ginger, tomatoes in grinder jug and grind, add yogurt and fennel seeds and grind it well.

Add cooking oil in a wok on medium to high flame and add grind mixture. (You can make this curry in a pressure cooker for quick cooking alternatively you can also cook in regular pot).

Now add Β½ tsp of nigella seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, salt 1 tsp, red chili 1 tbsp, turmeric powder 1 tbsp, coriander powder and cover the lid for 10 minutes.

Remove the lid you will see the oil has come to the top, now fry the masala for some time and add chicken and well mix it with fried masala and fry the meat well on high flame until they start to turn golden on edges.

Add water and mix it well with material and cover the lid on high flame for 7 to 10 minutes.

Remove the lid and add Β½ tsp nigella seeds, Β½ tsp fennel seeds and bring it to boil without lid on high flame for 5 minutes.

Put 1 Tbsp pickle spices in a bowl and squeeze two lemons over it and mix. Remove seeds of green chili and cut the green chilies lengthwise on one side and fill these spices in green chilies. Must watch complete video for clarity.

Add ready green chilies in pickle curry and put off the flame and cover with lid for 5 minutes.

Dish out Pickle curry (Achar Gosht).

Serving

Achar gosht is best served with hot naan or roti.
