Lentil Urad Curry Recipe
Urad dal or mash ki dal is an smart side that is a perfect complement to a sharp and saucy meat dish.
Top it with a simple tadka of fried whole red chilies, and serve it with a salad, and roti or chapati.
Ingredients
Lentil
Cooking Oil → 1/3 Cup
Ginger Paste → 2 Tbsp
Garlic Paste → 2 Tbsp
Salt → 1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder → 1 Tsp
Cumin Powder → 1 Tsp
All spices powder → 1 Tsp
Red chili powder → 1 Tbsp
Dry Coriander Powder → 1 Tbsp
Urad Lentil → 500 gm (Washed and soaked)
Water → 500ml
Temper
Butter → 2 Tbsp
Cooking Oil → 2 Tbsp
Paprika Powder → 1 Tsp
Whole Red Chili → 6 to 8
Garnishing
Green Coriander → ½ Cup
Green Chili → 6 (Cut into small pieces)
Butter → 1 Tbsp
Recipe
Lentil
Put cooking oil in a pressure cooker on medium to high flame.
Add ginger garlic paste and cook until the raw smell should be gone.
Add tomato puree, salt, dry coriander, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder and all spices powder and fry the mixture well.
When oil leave the edges then add washed and soaked lentil and mix well with fry mixture and wait to boil.
Add water and bend the lid and give pressure for 8 minutes after whistle.
Putt off the flame and release the pressure carefully. Now you will see lentil is cooked. Check lentil by pressing it with a finger, it will also be soft.
Garnishing
Dish out cooked lentil and sprinkle green coriander leaves and green chili over it.
Tempering
Put cooking oil in a pan and add paprika powder whole red chili and fry, add butter. Put this temper over cooked lentil.
Serving
Serve it with naan, Chapati or roti with green chatni and salad.
