Okra with Onion Curry Recipe
Okra Onion Curry is also called Pyaz Wali Bhindi. This recipe is a popular dry vegetable in Indian Cuisine usually served along with Parathas for the lunch menu or dinner menu. This recipe is good choice for lunch box with chapati or flat bread.
Ingredients
Cooking Oil → 1/3 Cup
Okra → ½ kg (Cut into small pieces)
Onion → 200 gm (Cut into slices)
Tomatoes → 200 gm (Cut into Slices)
Gram Flour → 2 Tbsp
Cumin Seeds → 1 Tbsp
Turmeric Powder → 1 Tsp
Chili Flacks → 1 Tbsp
Coriander Powder → 1 Tsp
Red Whole Chili → 6 to 8
Recipe
Wash okra/ Bhindi in water. Cut the crown and dry them thoroughly.
Heat wok at medium to low heat and add oil and add bhindis. Stir them nicely and add gram flour and cover them.
When mixture starts losing oil add cumin seeds and stir well then add turmeric powder, red chili flacks, coriander powder and salt. Mix everything and sauté.
Cook them till they are almost half done and do not forget to stir them a few times in between.
Once the Okra are half done then add onions and tomatoes and sauté till onions become little soft and cover with lid for up to 10 minutes on low heat.
Remove the lid and mix it well and add whole chili and cover the lid for 2 to three minutes on low heat.
Put off the flame. Okra curry is ready.
Serve it with hot Roti, chapati or flat bread.
